A Zionist Recognition of the Nakba
We, members and supporters of the New Zionist Movement, voice our recognition of the injustice experienced by the Palestinian people during the Nakba -- a catastrophe you endured during the creation of Israel. We acknowledge with regret the part our forebearers played in this historic injury. You were driven from your homes and have since faced occupation, oppression, and the denial of your identity.
Our predecessors - reeling from the Holocaust and desperate for a safe haven in our ancient homeland - regrettably contributed to a profound calamity for the Arabs of Palestine, both intentionally and unintentionally. For too long, we, their descendants, have denied this painful truth. We turned away from our own core value of. We hardened our hearts to your pain.
Now, as a vital first step toward making amends, we offer this recognition of the wrongs that have been done and continue to be done. We are committed to a new beginning by acknowledging the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian People for self-determination and freedom. We truly hope this recognition can begin a much-needed healing process for all.
Let us find our shared humanity and work together to build an agreement where Israelis and Palestinians—Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Druze—can live together in peace, safety, and prosperity.
This Zionist Recognition of the Nakba is accompanied by an Amends in the form of a 2-State Plan.
